I didn't really want to watch this movie. I only tagged along with my friend and her daughter for lack of anything better to do, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out the movie was actually good. Charming was the best word to describe it. I don't think kids under 6 will appreciate this movie though. It was more of a dialogue than effects. The movie dragged in some of the scenes which is always the case when a movie revolves around just a few major characters, but the overall message more than made up for it. I have to admit, there were tender moments in the film that almost made me cry :).
Dustin Hoffman was as usual at his best playing the 243 year-old eccentric Mr. Magorium. It's almost like watching Raymond Babbit in Rain Man with a lisp, but not quite =). Natalie Portman was good. While watching, I can't help but notice how much she resembles Giada de Laurentiis! Funny, for a while there, I thought I heard her say MOOT-ZA-REL-LA and PAN-CHEET-TA in one of her scenes hahahaha. It was nice to see Jason Bateman on the big screen again. The kid with the hat collection was so endearing. Made me want to hug him and tell him I can be his friend anytime =)

Baka maladladaw da lang i release dita ti baru nga movies. Pero ijay pinas sa met ket a week later lang ket ada ijayen.

They keep showing trailers of this movie in cinemas here but I'm not sure they'll show it here. I hope they do because I haven't watched a fantasy movie for years.
